The Type B1 handstamp has not been previously described although it has similar characteristics to the 5c and 20c surcharges noted by Bartels et al (1904) as a rather crude counterfeit made in the Philippines.
Characteristics: The “15” appears squat and too broad. Letters and date appear too large. An underline is used rather than a dot below “S” in “CENTs”. The “S” in “CORREOS” is in line with the vertical frame line but should not be confused with B10 which has a similar characteristic. |
