Type C8

Genuine Handstamp | Type C8 |
Very similar to the C10 forgery and care should be taken not to confuse. Type C8 is scarce compared to Type C10 which is common. Characteristics: The period after the date is positioned to the right of the vertical inner frame line rather than directly in line with it and the extreme end of the foot of the “2” tends to form a triangle if cut off by a horizontal line running along the top of the heavy base of the numeral. However, the main distinguishing features are that in C8 the lower left corner of the external frame forms a long gentle arc. In some examples in the lower tail of “C” in “CENTs” appears to finish in a 45degree line rather than a vertical up turn. In many examples the black ink used has created a blurred impression. |
