The stamps of the Philippines issued during the period 1890 to 1897 depict the portrait of the infant King, Alfonso XIII, and are commonly referred to as the “Baby Head” issues. These stamps are amongst the most fascinating of all Philippine stamps for their variety, colour changes, gum types and differences in sheet format. Yet they have been greatly neglected by cataloguers and there are relatively few published articles and no monographs for the collector to refer to.
